and to think we've left with ONE term of sec sch life.time should stop flying like usain bolt.
it feels empty now. I mean, yeah I need to do work, mug and prepare for exams, but still.
I dunno but I feel slightly disillusioned. By what, I myself am not too sure.
It just sucks having a feeling but being unable to place it. The music I'm listening doesn't help much too.
Just got horribly reminded today how fast time passes. It's been what, only 3 and 2/3 years, and it's near the end. Seeing the teachers, seeing Mr. Ali leaving, seeing how the new exco did a good job with the jigsaw puzzle, I am reminded of the past.
The past with all the wonderful memories. Painful, horrible, yet fun.
BUT it's ultimately the past. It's over. Period.
And there's only 1 way left.
Forward.

but the satisfaction of freedom isn't there.
it was, for a short while though.
there's STILL the end-of-years in october, and i need to mug.
and then the big O.

YES LUMPY YOU SURVIVED 26 AUGUST 2008.although i have this feeling I WILL SCREW TMR UP.
BIG TIME.

0750 - ORAL DEFENCE
0840 - chinese
1000 - PHYSICS QUIZ
1100 - MATH CCT4
1140 - math lesson
1230 - re
1500 - JAPANESE COMPREHENSION

capitalised are horror events.
thats why i was saying that today was RELATIVELY easy. people complain a chinese prelim is hard. then people complain chinese prelim + jap prelim is hard. i'm saying it's easy. compared to tmr.
lafe's a b***h. she screws you upside down till you wince in pain.

ok guess what i survived today, albeit barely.now it's to TOMORROW.
day 1 of the 2-day war.
anyway, didn't do this post, but it's overdue.
I MISS BEIJING OLYMPICS.
that was practically the only thing i had while going through the exam period. Cheering Phelps on, screaming when Bolt zapped his opponents, aching when Liu Xiang had to pull out...
I ATTRIBUTE MY LOW GPA TO BEIJING. and I'M HAPPY I CAN DO SO.
anyway, can we reverse time? 2 reasons - to avoid tmr and wednesday, as well as to watch Phelps again.
ahhh i need a medicine for olympics withdrawal symptom.

sort of inspired by jinghui's post.yeah, i guess it's time for us to get back together as a class, for us to take this opportunity (of about 1 term) to bond before time cruelly breaks us up. no matter how we try, in rj we won't be the same again, and we need to realise that time has indeed flown.
yet, what we call "class spirit" feels absent. What class spirit is there when the exams are about and running? Do we go to the library as one class and mug together? Do we even talk and share when we have tests?
Perhaps we are selfish. Selfish people who only care about their own grades when time comes. And the so-called class spirit we have is actually just a few strong friendships put together.
Or is it?
I remember 2 April 2008, Learning Journey Day. Why did I even bother remembering the date? Perhaps it just struck me as perhaps the 2nd best day I had in this year so far (1st is 30 May).
I saw the manifestation of our class spirit. People, with varying business levels and madness, came together, regardless of time, schedule or whatsoever to help. When I reached school at 1.30, I was pleasantly shocked at the number of people decorating the class. Kenneth, Jerald and Patrick doing the designs, BenYong and BenLow doing up the net, Jinghui, Leonard and Shujian doing the paper balls, and others whom my memory forbids me to express (sorry ah.).
Even more touching was the period AFTER the trip. At least 25 people sat outside the class, some playing floorball-soccer, some playing bridge (of which I'm proud to say I remember winning one game (: ), some watching people play psp. The period of time when we did up the class, followed by the evening dinner with about 10 people, are memories I can't forget.
I can forget how much I scored for my Maths CCT. I can forget which enzyme cuts dsRNA into smaller pieces. But I CANNOT FORGET, and WILL NOT FORGET the memories I spent in 4B '08.
I never experienced a true class spirit. From P1-P3 I was too small to understand it, and from P4-P6 I had never gotten a chance to go for chalets with my classmates (and the gender disparity worsened the class spirit). In Sec 1 and 2 my class was horrible. I dreamt of letting go of my class in Sec 1 and 2, and I was honestly relieved when the end of 2006 came (although the people in 2J '06 are not too bad).
But came Sec 3 and 4.
We are unique. Fun and unique. Mugger, fun and unique.
Please, guys, don't let it go so easily. Keep it there, burning, even till the day we die. Let us enjoy the days we have left as a class, a wonderful class.
4B, 頑張って!
Edit: In light of the recent theft cases , we must stay as one. Don't let our guard down, find the culprit and let zhiyi and shukiat sit on him for eternity. To be honest, I don't think the culprit is from 4B, since 4B is full of nice people (as jinghui said on his blog). I can (and would only want to) believe that whoever that scoundrel is, he's ineligible (aka too noob) to be in 4B.
4B, let's find that culprit and burn him for our class bbq party.

i'd much rather have the rgs style of exams, man.it's rather tiring having to go through projects, long school days, assignments while having to mug for tests. for once, i'm feeling the pinch of such a lifestyle.
and now 1 week of the double-killer fortnight is over.
but it's the easier week.
next tuesday can kill any sane person. next wednesday can kill any insane person as well.
but i shall persevere. I chose not to quit Japanese, so this is my "punishment", and no matter what, i will last the final stretch.
And to think this isn't even the final stretch.
Ahh my posts are getting random. and incoherent.
i need time. to watch olympics, to sort out my itunes (which is 14 days long and has 36+ GB), to get myself organised, to mug chem, to (attempt to) compose... i need time.
And they do not manifest themselves anytime soon.
anyway this year's prefect elections are horrid. Not cause of PB (obviously not, cause as far as I see it they have been doing a good job getting the system up and running), but cause of the candidates.
There's been an email circulating around RI students. I'm rather impressed by it, yet it raises a big issue that needs to be settled - democratic or aristocratic governance of school bodies.
To be honest, I'm a proponent of the latter. RI guys, no matter how smart they are, are still immature, n00b (yeah gaming "jargon") and thus unworthy voters. We don't know half the people up there. We vote based on a few pieces of campaign poster paper and 1 minute of "fame". Is this what we should do?
Similar to CCAs as well. Many decisions led by students are hardly "brillant", and the so-called "worthy" people the majority (blindly) select are hardly up to the task. In the end, both leader and CCA suffer.
Can we have a return to aristocracy? Stop embracing the "ideals" of democratic thought when in a school body, and realise that we NEED to be pragmatic and be a realist.
scrap the idea of election.
and give the time used for election speeches to us for mugging.

i heart afternoon chem lessons.today was pure madness. not the lesson - we were doing a looot of bio though (org chem - biomolecules - proteins - gel electrophoresis).
so it was some gel electrophoresis with salmon and shark muscle protein.
BUT.
i mentioned salmon and shark muscle right?
guess what. mr ong bought salmon/shark meat from ntuc and gave it to us raw to extract the protein. AND. there were A LOT of leftover meat pieces.
so being the super-creative people we were (more like the food-deprived people), we (rather andrew, ben yong and chester) decided to make "fishballs" (out of scalpel-cut salmon meat).
then everything went haywire.
we made quite a bit of mashed salmon, saw a water-bath heated to 95deg C, and instinctively thought - double-boiled salmon meat.
yes. DOUBLE-BOILED SALMON MEAT.
will show some photos later (once i steal them from jerald).

yeah. imagine if he didn't spread his arms and pound his chest (i didn't like his actions too much.).

wed - MATH CCT (which i will screw up) + OralDef + JAP LISTENING + COMPRE PRELIM + SJPhO
what a wonderful fortnight. if by any chance i do not turn up at sch on wed and/or thurs you know why.
death by exam.
anyway i was planning to mug geog today, then I remembered about the semis.
THE TABLE-TENNIS SEMIS ARE NOT FOR THE FAINT-HEARTED.
it was soo nervewracking! there were verrrrry long rallies and they took an eternity, and it was very tense please. even the koreans' last player was looking as if she saw a monster in front of her.
that's how she screwed her serve and that's how we won the last point.
then there was this rally which was COOOL beyond measure, even greatkang said so.
to cut the long story short,
SINGAPORE GETS ITS 1ST MEDAL IN 48 YEARS. HOW COOL IS THAT.
so cool until i decided to forgo geog mugging. I think it's worth it.

well only today did I realise how many people got bitten by the Olympic bug.the whole morning was wasted talking about events in the pool,
following which,
during math,
Lumpy reads: A particle falls freely from rest under gravity in a resisting medium.
Lumpy's mind strays.
Lumpy says: Back 2 and a half somersault 2 and a half twist pike position.
you know i went mad.
Then during english showcase portfolio, during a break between presentations (aka when huiyao was setting up), i koped tony's laptop, went to google, and checked the results for men's 200mfreestyle finals.
Then i randomly shouted out that phelps broke WR again.
Suddenly the whole class crowded around tony's laptop.
Anyway chem was meh. PR2 was even more meh.
But who cares. I'm gonna fail everything anyway cause I'm WATCHING THE OLYMPICS.

ok screw life. I SHALL PETITION FOR A COMPLETE PAUSE OF SCHOOL FOR THE NEXT 2 WEEKS DUE TO THE NEED TO WATCH THE OLYMPICS.dream on lumpy.
now I need to mug chem, and despite what people say, I will fail it spectacularly. This is because:
1) I haven't been mugging.
2) I have been watching the Olympics instead.
3) This means I'm screwed.
well does anyone trust me?
anyway i was planning to chiong mug chem tmr. then tao li HAD to qualify for 100mfly finals, shattering the AR set yesterday. so that means I HAVE TO TURN ON THE TV AT 10.24 AM TMR TO WATCH.
and to be honest, the chances of tao li winning a medal is not too small. think about it. if she does her last 50m as well as today and if she doesnt screw up her 1st 50m, she will win. period.
and as nigelfong was saying,
陶莉满天下!
and on a side note, don't watch michael phelps. the more you watch him the more you want to commit suicide, since michael phelps swims faster than you.
really demoralising leh. saw him bullet his way to 400IM gold.
WAIT LUMPY YOU AREN'T SUPPOSED TO BE WATCHING THE OLYMPICS. YOU HAVE A CHEM TEST ON TUESDAY REMEMBER? *knocks head*

guess what. to think my next blog post is on this guy.but honestly, it was REAL fun learning about this guy.
"This man (BG) was a student of RI, and feels proud that he belonged to this school, although we aren't so sure we are proud that he was once a Rafflesian."
The BG lesson was INTERESTING, to say the least.
Turns out he had a loooooong history, from relief-teaching geog at RI to other schools, and writing his assessment books ("Who would buy them?"). Apparently he has been sitting in that seat in KFC for at least 7 years, looking at RI guys in shorts and staring at heaven-knows-what.
Shan't say any more here, lest he visits this blog (prob is he won't know someone like me who isn't very coughattractivetohimcough)

Monday, August 4, 2008.
this post's subject material was inspired by oral defence, which is actually QUITE entertaining. Between the 2 presentations today, one was inspiring and one was insipid.Anyway, I was trying to fill up testimonial yesterday.
Then came a slightly problematic part. CCA.
RISE was no problem.
But there was my involvement in my 2 merit CCAs, which I have not really contributed to very much.
I knew that. At the start I said that I would be unable to commit, but they took me in anyway (rather, I was forced in both).
I have tried, I know. They understand too, that I wanted to but could not.
Well, at least I learned that I would never feel satisfied with an organisation that I voluntarily join unless I gave my best and nothing less. I knew that to be the case, and I feel bad now, having missed contributing to the clubs.
I know that given a choice (and knowing how it would end, like how I predicted 2 years back), I would not join the clubs, cause even if there were CCA points, if I didn't give my all it would be a failure in my opinion.
Perhaps I gave too much to RISE. Though I never regretted it.
So I aspire next year to give my all for every CCA I join, to commit fully, and to know my limits like how I knew mine in Sec 2.
P.S. cheers to my WONDERFUL dmp timetable, where on the assembly days I HAVE NOTHING ON EXCEPT ASSEMBLY. Yeah, ASSembly. (pardon me for swearing but yeah.)
