This week has been quite killer-ish so far.

Yesterday was the all-so-entertaining ChemRA CCT1, where one qn killed like most ppl, and the other made nigel, aaron, barry, daniellim etc swear (actually, they ALMOST swore).

Q6) Consider equation: CaCO3(s) <-> CaO(s) + CO2(g)
When one adds less CaCO3, what happens to the equilibrium?

a) Shifts left
b) Shifts right
C) nothing happens
i can't rmb what D was.

answer is C, but nearly everyone put A (cause solids are not expressed in mass action equation).

Another qn involved adding and subtracting numbers from a table, so if you notice chemra ppl going "PQRS", they died here.

Ohyeah and UNSW had a qn on CaCO3 equilibria and PQRS, and barrytng was swearing profusely.

Note- I did not do very well either (from tng).

Today, during morning assembly, we were laughing our ***es out.

Return of the "Never Let You Down"
Wang Tianyi: Prometheum 12.

"Never let you down."

School erupts in cheers, claps and laughter.

See, we hardly ever forget memorable PB campaign one-liners (coughSOLARPOWERRACINGCARCLUBcough).

Physics CCT was uneventful.

Ben and Jerry's Free Cone Day wasn't, however.
Let's just say the queue was LONG.

LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG.

yeah you get the extent.

So after 40 minutes and 1.5 academy questions, i got my cone.

and as usual, b&j is wonderful.

Thursday, April 17, 2008.

Yesterday, our SS teacher shared with us this amusing story.

Mr. Wong: You know, the Crown Prince of Brunei used to study in RI before, and I ever taught him in Sec 1. Then during Teacher's Day, he invited the teachers and his classmates to one of the hotels the Brunei King owns (in S'pore obviously).

Mr. Wong: We went there, and they (the Sec 1s) started running around in the lobby, the Prince included. They were making a lot of noise, so a security guard walked up to the Crown Prince and his friends and went:

Security Guard: Why are you all running around here? You think what, this is your father's hotel ah?"

After that, he then continued with the part on how the security guard got severely owned.

Sometimes, I too wished i had some power like that, having no one to tell me off, having freedom and power to do what I want. I would then be free, like the Crown Prince (then), playing without all the security guards (coughelangocough, coughmoelcsecurityguardcough).

But with great power comes great responsibility, and i hate that.

Power. A physical quantity, yet you can't feel it at times.

On a side note, CCTs over. There's Chem and Physics on Wk 7, HMT and Bio on Wk 8 and Jap on wk 9. Better start mugging chem now, or else i die.

Monday, April 14, 2008.

for lack of a better title.

100th post, and it's nice that i review the day in general.

There is indeed something magical about RI. The people claim that during Orientation Camp each and every RI student gets "infected" with this ghost/spirit hounding RI, known as the "Rafflesian Spirit". How much of it is true, I do not know.

But there can only be one explanation for the events that happened today. What was it that propelled at least 600 RI students to cheer and stand up despite the 32degrees Celsius heat? What was it that made me (and fellow muggers Aaron Tang, Lee Jie Liang, Tang Huiyao and Vincent Tjeng) stand up, cheer and not mug despite the fact that we all have some form of test on Wednesday? What was it that made us swell around the pitch after the final whistle, despite the broken hearts, to stand together and sing the school song, even with our horrid off-pitch, off-rhythm singing?

Perhaps getting 2nd would have been better than getting 1st. What is the point of winning? The faces I saw on the ACS (I) ruggers was that of triumph and happiness. But how long will that last? The setbacks are usually the more important and powerful events, they last longer than expected. Take my SS EOY for example. I may have gotten 78/80 for Chem EOY, but i do not remember it as well as the disastrous SS EOY. As someone ever said, what is wrong with getting 2nd place?

Do not despair, for I believe, there is nothing to be gained. Do not despair, for there are more important events in life. Do not despair, for at least you have made someone (me) impressed, for I saw and felt for myself the "Rafflesian Spirit" which I had, till now, doubted.

Thank you, B-Div Rugby team.
